Russia: Russia banned from hosting IBU World Cup and Junior World Cup

The press-secretary of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) said that it is too early to say whether the measures taken by the International Biathlon Union (IBU) are dictated by politics or not, during an interview in Moscow, Thursday.

SOT, Konstantin Boytsov, Press-secretary of Russian Biathlon Union (Russian): "After the examination of the decision made by the International Biathlon Union (IBU), their executive board, the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), came to the conclusion that in this situation, [given the] recently launched investigation, it will be appropriate to let the IBU decide the venue of the IBU World Cup stage and the Junior World Cup, which were initially to be held in Tyumen and Ostrov, in the Pskov region."

SOT, Konstantin Boytsov, Press-secretary of Russian Biathlon Union (Russian): "We are not having a dialogue with Richard McLaren. We are having a dialogue with the IBU. During today's executive board meeting, the IBU [discussed] a number of [matters] in which we plan to cooperate with them. We made ourselves familiar with the decision of the IBU and plan to cooperate with them during the investigation. Only when the results of this cooperation [will be announced], will we be able to say whether politics was involved or not."
